NINETY-SIX – The Nation Ford Falcons boys’ golf team finished second in a tournament over the weekend and had a team member make history in the process.

Junior Aiden Miller shot a school record 67 to win the 2016 Tee-Off Classic at the Fort Club in Ninety-Six, S.C., hosted by Ninety-Six High School on Saturday, March 21. The one-day 18-hole tournament saw Miller win by three strokes over Greenville’s Reid Allison.

Miller shot a 32 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine. He had six birdies, 11 pars, and just one bogey in the tournament. The previous Nation Ford record low 18-hole score was a 68 and it was held by three different players in Ben Mills, Carter Smith, and Harrison LaPointe.

As a team, Nation Ford was second overall in the tournament with a 303 behind winners Mountain View Prep, who won with a team score of 297.

The tournament featured 24 teams from around the state. The Fort Club was established in 1968 and is a par 72 George Cobb course.

Besides Miller’s 67, Connor Mills shot a 75 and James Wachtel shot a 78 for Nation Ford. Cameron Cox shot an 83 to finish out the scoring for the Falcons.

Up next for Nation Ford is the Magnolia Invitational on March 23 and 24 at Beech Creek Golf Club in Columbia.
