Fort Mill’s Avalon Stevens was one of two winners for the Jackets against Cuthbertson on Wednesday, Oct. 1st.

The Fort Mill girls’ tennis team dropped their first match of the year falling to the Cuthbertson Cavaliers.

The Jackets fell to the Cavaliers 7-2 and are now 9-1 on the season. The loss was a day after they swept Clover to go 9-0 in Region 3-5A play.

Getting wins for Fort Mill against Cuthbertson was No. 1 singles Abhi Nallareddy 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 and No. 4 singles Avalon Stevens at 6-2, 5-7, 10-6.

Against Clover, Fort Mill won every match in straight sets. Nallareddy won 6-4, 6-4 and No. 2 singles Kendall McCarty won 6-1, 6-1 for the Jackets.

At No. 3 singles, Fort Mill’s Molly Goodson won 7-5, 6-2 and Stevens won at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0. Siona Saman won at No. 5 singles for Fort Mill 6-4, 6-2.

In the only doubles match, Fort Mill’s Ellie Corbett and Smriti Kirubakaran won 6-3, 6-2.

Up next for Fort Mill is a home match on Thursday, Oct. 2 against Rock Hill.

The Nation Ford girls’ tennis team beat Rock Hill 4-2 to improve to 7-1 on the season.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ volleyball team remained undefeated in Region 3-5A play with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-6, 25-17) sweep of Northwestern. The Copperheads are now 19-4-2 on the season and 8-0 in region play.

The Fort Mill boys’ volleyball team lost to Clover 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-20) to fall to 6-12 on the season and 2-6 in Region 3-5A.

The Nation Ford boys’ volleyball team beat Blythewood 3-2 (25-19, 29-27, 15-25, 19-25, 15-11) to improve to 10-6 overall on the season.

The Fort Mill girls’ volleyball team beat Clover 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-17, 25-18) to improve to 5-6 on the season and 3-5 in Region 3-5A.
