The Nation Ford Falcons softball team made Senior Night a memorable one as they made quick work of the Rock Hill Bearcats.
Nation Ford beat Rock Hill 16-0 in three innings of work due to the 15-run mercy rule. The win put the Falcons at 5-3 in Region 3-5A and 12-6 overall.
Nation Ford struck first in scoring two runs in the bottom of the first off a double from Alaina Holifield scoring Tori Baldino and Brooke Ressler, who both walked earlier in the inning.
Rock Hill threatened in the top of the second loading the bases off a single, walk and Falcons’ error, but starting pitcher Jamison Noonan was able to get out of the inning without surrendering a run.
Things really got moving for Nation Ford in the bottom of the second inning as they put up 14 runs off 11 hits and three walks. The Falcons started the inning off with seven consecutive hits before making an out.
Rachel Studer singled, which was followed by doubles from Baldino and Ressler to make it 4-0. Abigail Loser then hit a double of her own scoring a run and Paizlei Ross then hit a two-run home run to make it 7-0. The hits kept coming as Holifield and Jill Hennessy both singled before Noonan hit a three-run home run to put Nation Ford up by 10.
Rock Hill got back-to-back outs to slow the bleeding some, before the Falcons reloaded their hitters for another swing. After the Falcons batted around, Baldino and Ressler walked, before Loser singled. Bailei Ross then hit a two-run home run to put Nation Ford up 14-0. Holifield doubled and Hennessy got hit by a pitch before a Bearcats error allowed another Falcons’ run. Natalee Holifield would walk as another run for Nation Ford scored basically closing out the game.
Nation Ford would allow a double in the top of the third, but easily got out of the inning afterward for the convincing win. Nine different Falcons got a hit in the game and six different Falcons got RBIs. Leading the way at the plate was Loser and Noonan, both of which had three RBIs. Alaina Holifield went 3-3 with two RBIs.
Noonan pitched two innings allowing one hit and Kailey Alston pitched an inning allowing a hit for the Falcons.
