High School Basketball in Fort Mill

A second round of holiday tournaments happen this week for all three local schools.

Catawba Ridge is hosting its own basketball tournament for the boys’ and girls’ teams named the Copperhead Basketball Classic.

The tournament will be Tuesday, Dec. 28 through Thursday, Dec. 30. All games will be played at Catawba Ridge High. Games start at noon on Tuesday for the girl’s bracket and 12:30 for the boy’s bracket.

The boy’s bracket features Parkwood, York, Country Day, Fairfield Central, North Gaston, Rock Hill, Buford and the Copperheads. The Copperhead boys will play at 6:30 p.m. against Buford on day one of the tournament. The girl’s bracket includes Fairfield Central, Cuthbertson, York, Parkwood, Buford, North Gaston, Central and Catawba Ridge. Catawba Ridge girls will play at 4:30 p.m. also against Buford on day one of the girl’s tournament.

Both Fort Mill boy’s and girl’s teams are playing as well this week. The Fort Mill girls are playing at the Northwestern Holiday Classic starting Tuesday. They will play at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday against Unicoi County out of Tennessee and then will play at 12:30 p.m. against Bluffton Wednesday.

The Fort Mill boys will be in the Bennie Bennett Invitational Tournament at Clover High Tuesday through Thursday. They will open the tournament Tuesday against Marvin Ridge at 6 p.m. and they will then play Battery Creek on day two of the tournament at Clover also at 6 p.m. Day three of games will be played at the Rock Hill Sports and Event Center.

The Nation Ford boys will be in the Poinsettia Classic Tuesday through Thursday at Greenville High School. They will open at 4 p.m. Tuesday against Hillcrest. The Nation Ford girls are off this week and will return to play Jan. 4.

For wrestling fans, Nation Ford wrestling will be at the Holy Angels individual tournament Wednesday, Dec. 29 and Thursday, Dec. 30. Fort Mill wrestling will be at the Wildcat Duals Thursday and Friday, Dec. 31 and Catawba Ridge is off until 2022.
