The Fort Mill Post 43 Senior team got the season sweep over Concord Post 51 with a Saturday night home game.

Post 43 overcame a slow start with a 5-1 win to beat Concord for the second consecutive game.

Concord scored first in the second inning off two hits and a walk, but it turned out to be all the run support they would get.

Fort Mill threatened in the second inning as well putting two runners on with singles by Jonathan Barschow and Ben Wilson, but Post 43 couldn’t scratch a run across.

Post 43 was able to hit the ball and get people on-base in the early portion of the game, but struggled to drive anyone in. Owen Noonan singled in the third inning, but would get out as part of fielder’s choice in the next batter. Fort Mill would try to make things happen on the bases, but were called out trying to steal.

Concord started making things happen in the fourth inning as they put on two runners with one out getting a hit a walk, but the Post 43 pitching was able to stop them.

Jackson Mullen got the start for Post 43 and went three and a third allowing one run on five hits, while walking two and striking out seven.

John Dober came in to get the final two outs of the fourth inning without allowing a run.

The bats for Fort Mill finally woke up in the fourth inning. Post 43 put two runners on in the bottom of the fourth and finally tied the game on a single by Brennan Helms scoring Cooper Zohner, who reached on a walk.

Thomas Ealey would single driving in Helms and Zach Jennings. A balk by the Concord pitcher scored Nick Chuttey and a triple by Nico Bartolotti score Ealey to keep things rolling for Post 43 with two outs.

Dober finished the game for Post 43 going three and two thirds while allowing one hit and walking one. He struck out four in getting the win.

Ealey led with two RBIs in going 1-3. Bartolotti also had an RBI going 1-3 and Helms went 1-2 with an RBI. Noonan went 2-4.

The win puts Post 43 at 3-1 on the season as they open league play Monday, June 10 against Winnsboro.
