The Nation Ford girls’ golf team won the Milltown golf showdown at the Fort Mill Golf Club firing a 345 to not only win the match, but set a new school record for 18-holes by one stroke in the process.

All three local high schools teed it up at Fort Mill with Catawba Ridge finishing second on their home course with a 348 and Fort Mill coming in third with a 357.

The Falcons were led by a 77 from medalist Vivian Harris. Nation Ford was able to get off to a good start with Sara McCaskill coming in behind her with an 81. Hadley Mark shot a 93 and Piper Sabino finished with a 94 for the Falcons. Harris was the only golfer of the three schools to shoot in the 70s.

For Catawba Ridge, the Copperheads were led by Reagan Lynch and Brooke Mehlhouse, who both shot an 84. Anjali Peddisetty finished with an 86 and Ella Rose Hill shot a 94 to round out the scoring for the host school.

Fort Mill was led by Mackenzie Finn with an 82. She was followed with an 87 from Sam Benton and a 90 from Cayla Cappuzzo. Claire Collins finished the scoring for the Jackets with a 98.

Nation Ford has two more regular season matches this week hosting York Tuesday at Springfield Golf Club and hosting Northwestern and Indian Land Thursday.

Fort Mill host York Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Tega Cay Golf Club for their last regular season match before the Region 3-5A tournament at Chester Golf Club Monday, Oct. 9.

Catawba Ridge is finished with its regular season and will next play in the Region 3-4A tournament also scheduled for Monday, Oct. 9 at Chester Golf Club.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ volleyball team swept Clover 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-18) to split the season series with the team and improve to 16-7-1 overall on the season.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis team beat Rock Hill 4-3 to improve to 8-3 overall on the season. Winning for the Copperheads was Nala Uter 6-2, 6-1; Emerson Brooks 7-6 (7-3), 6-2; Sydney Biggers 6-1, 6-3 and Uter and Brooks 8-6 in No. 1 doubles.

The Nation Ford girls’ tennis team fell to Charlotte Catholic 6-0 and drop to 7-4 overall on the season.
