The Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis team swept Northwestern in a home match 6-0 Tuesday to keep their Region 3-4A title hopes alive.

The Copperheads improved to 7-1 in region play and 9-3 overall on the season.

Catawba Ridge didn’t play their normal lineup, but still was able to win all six matches in straight sets.

Winning at No. 1 singles was Emerson Brooks 6-0, 6-0 and at No. 2 singles was Sydney Biggers by a similar score.

Katelyn Evans won at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1 and Skylar White added a win at No. 4 singles for the Copperheads 6-0, 6-3. Abby Russell won at No. 5 singles for Catawba Ridge 6-1, 6-0 as well.

In the only doubles match, Meredith Reynolds and Kaitlyn Wood won 6-1, 6-2 for Catawba Ridge.

Catawba Ridge has a key region match against Indian Land that could decide the region title next week.

The Nation Ford girls’ tennis team beat Spring Valley on the road 5-1 to improve to 6-2 in Region 3-5A and 8-4 overall. Winning for the Falcons was Ava Baldino 6-0, 6-3; Eva Arnautovic 6-3, 6-0; Alexa Brenner 6-3, 6-2; Ansley McDonald 6-1, 6-0 and Piper Land and Daniella Fernandez 6-1, 7-5 in doubles.

The Fort Mill girls’ tennis team fell to Clover 4-2 at home to drop to 4-5 in Region 3-5A and 7-6 overall on the season.

The Nation Ford girls’ volleyball team swept Blythewood 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-16) to improve to 6-1 in Region 3-5A. They are now 19-7 overall on the season and will play a key match Thursday at home against Rock Hill needing to win that to keep their region title hopes alive.

The Fort Mill girls’ volleyball team lost to Rock Hill 3-1 (18-25, 23-25, 25-23, 17-25) to drop to 13-6 overall on the season and 3-4 in Region 3-5A play.

The Nation Ford golf team edged York 188-190 at Springfield Golf Club to improve to 11-1 overall. Leading the Falcons was Sara McCaskill with a 42. Katie Griggs finished with a 46, Piper Sabino shot a 47 and Carolyn Miller added a 53.
