The Nation Ford golf team improved to 5-2 on the season with a seven-stroke victory over Catawba Ridge Monday.
Playing at the home of the Copperheads at Fort Mill Golf Club, the Falcons shot a 163 as a team and were led by a 38 from Gabe Schmitz. Catawba Ridge came up short with a 170 in the loss and were led by a 38 as well from Nolan Will.
Besides Schmitz’s score, Nation Ford had three other golfers in the low 40s for scores as Ben Mills shot a 40 and Colby McCaskill added a 41 in the win. Ben Harvey finished the scoring with a 44 for the Falcons.
The Copperheads had one low 40s score with a 42 from Emerson Hill and a pair of 45s from Hunter Warren and Parrish Fox for Catawba Ridge.
Up next for Nation Ford is a tri-match at Springfield Golf Club against Fort Mill and York April 15, according to their schedule. The Falcons are also playing in the Fleischer Tournament this Friday and Saturday at the Rock Hill County Club.
Catawba Ridge now turns their attention to a tri-match Wednesday at Fort Mill Golf Club based on their schedule.
Baseball
Fort Mill lost 6-0 on the road to Boiling Springs to fall to 2-2 in Region 3-5A and 8-7 overall. The Jackets will host Boiling Springs Wednesday at 6:30 in game two of the series.
Lacrosse
Fort Mill girls’ team beat Clover 19-10 to remain undefeated in Region 3-5A play at 5-0 and 10-4 overall. The Jackets look to wrap up their region schedule and a region title Thursday against Boiling Springs.
The Nation Ford girls’ team beat Boiling Springs in region play 13-9 and improved to 2-4 in the conference. The win puts the Falcons at 6-5 overall as they travel to Dorman Thursday.
Softball
Nation Ford beat Boiling Springs 9-3 to improve to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in region play. The Falcons next travel to Catawba Ridge today for a non-conference showdown.
Catawba Ridge beat Lancaster 9-1 in an important Region 3-4A game. The win puts the Copperheads at 5-0 in the region and 13-3 overall. The Copperheads host the Falcons today in their next game.
