The Nation Ford boys’ volleyball team won their first match in school history Wednesday beating the Rock Hill Bearcats on the road in five sets.

Nation Ford won 3-2 (20-25, 25-17, 25-19, 15-25, 15-10) and are now 1-5 overall on the season.

The Falcons started the season 0-5 losing four matches at home and one on the road. Nation Ford is 1-1 on the road this season.

Nation Ford head coach Tory Tysdal had said recently she felt like her team was on the verge of getting their first win saying they were getting better each match.

“It’s hard,” she said. “They are teenage boys and they want to win now.”

Up next for Nation Ford is a match at Fort Mill Wednesday, Sept. 13.

In other volleyball related events, the Nation Ford girls’ team fell at home to Marvin Ridge 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-19) to lose their first regular season non-tournament match and are now 8-3 overall on the season.

Nation Ford next plays against Clover Tuesday, Sept. 12 to open Region III play.

The Fort Mill boys’ volleyball team lost to Boiling Springs in five sets falling 3-2 at home. Fort Mill is now 3-3 overall on the season and plays at Catawba Ridge Thursday, Sept. 7.

The Catawba Ridge girls golf team beat Clover 181 to 217 Wednesday at River Hills Golf Club. The Copperheads were led by Reagan Lynch with a 39, followed by a pair of 46s from Anjali Peddisetty and Ella Rose Hill. Brooke Mehlhouse finished the scoring with a 50.
