Nation Ford got back up and dusted themselves off after a rough Monday to rout Fort Mill in game two of their series on the diamond Wednesday night.

The Falcons blanked Fort Mill 15-0 to even the season series at 1-1 and improve to 4-8 overall on the season and 3-2 in Region 3-5A.

Nation Ford was strong in every aspect of the game from the opening pitch as they rattled off 16 hits in the game and defensively Paul Solari pitched a one hitter. Solari struck out three and walked two in three innings of work. The game was stopped after three innings due to the mercy rule.

“We hit the ball very well tonight,” said Nation Ford head coach Michael Lewis. “Everybody in the lineup contributed. We played better defensively and had a focused energy.”

Fort Mill aided Nation Ford’s efforts by making four errors in the field. The only hit for Fort Mill was a single from Zach Jennings in the third inning. The loss drops Fort Mill to 7-4 overall and 1-4 in region play.

“You don’t make routine plays, you get what you get,” said Fort Mill head coach Travis Collier.

Nation Ford started off scoring two in the bottom of the first inning and opened the game with a more competitive aggression than in Monday’s series opener. The second and third innings were even more productive for the Falcons as they batted around in each inning.

In the second inning, Nation Ford scored six runs on six hits including a three-run home run from Luke Keller which really got things rolling for the Falcons. The third inning was even better for Nation Ford as they scored seven runs on eight hits.

Every Nation Ford player had hat least one hit in the game. Rylee Ashworth went 3-3 with three RBI.  Keller went 2-3 with three RBI and Jacob Petit went 1-3 with two RBI in leading the Falcons. Solari, Gabe Simmons, Seth Hanson and Avery Childs also got two hits as well in the game.

Game three is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 1 back at Fort Mill.

In other games…

The Catawba Ridge baseball team improved to 11-3 on the season and 7-1 in Region 3-4A as they beat Lancaster 7-0 Wednesday. Greyson Wild pitched a one hitter and struck out 14, while walking two. Jake McCoy went 3-3 with two RBI and both Wyatt Wilson and Jonathan Barschow each had two RBI as well in the win.

The Fort Mill golf team beat York 161-215 at Tega Cay Golf Club. They were led by Alex Martin and Cam Baker who both shot a 38. Ryan Weisinger shot a 42 and Ryan Patterson finished with a 43.
