Between the 4A and 5A classes, a dozen wrestlers out of Fort Mill Township will get a chance to wrestle for a state title next weekend in Anderson.

In the 4A Upper State tournament held at Northwestern High School, Catawba Ridge had three wrestlers qualify for the state tournament with Jarrett Eubanks (175) winning his weight class and in the process getting career win 150.

Eubanks won 3-2 in the finals over Lancaster’s Peyton Miles to win the Upper State title. He beat Greenwood’s Dax Seaborn in the semi-finals to get career win 150.

Two other Copperheads qualified for the state tournament in Cole Stukitz (138) and Alex Johnson (215). Both finished third in the Upper State tournament with Stukitz getting a forfeit win and Johnson picking up a second period pin.

In the 5A Upper State tournament held at Hillcrest High School, Fort Mill had six wrestlers qualify for the state tournament and Nation Ford had three qualify.

Tucker Gibson (126) led the way for Fort Mill with winning an Upper State title. The Jackets had three other wrestlers finish second in Luke Van Beynum (106), Lincoln Greene (120) and Aidan Eubanks (138).  Both Jacob Nally (113) and Joseph Richardson (215) finished fourth in their weight classes.

Nation Ford’s highest finisher was Danny Gilstorf (132) and Derek Bylone van Sandwyk (190), both of which finished second in their respective weight classes. They were followed by Mitchell Ladamus (144) who finished third.  

The state tournament for all classifications will be held Feb. 23 and 24 at the Anderson Civic Center.
