LANCASTER – All three local girls golf teams finished in the top 10 as part of the Lady Trojan Invitational.

The 15-team, 18-hole golf tournament was held on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Lancaster Golf Club and won by Lexington, which shot a 323. Chapin was second with a 339 and Blythewood was third with a 341.

Locally, Catawba Ridge led the contingency with a fourth-place finish shooting a 348. EllaRose Hill led the Copperheads with an 81. She was followed by Brooke Mehlhouse with an 85 and Anjali Peddisetty with an 88. Charley Barton-Haggar finished the scoring for Catawba Ridge with a 94.

Indian Land was fifth with a 375, and two strokes behind them with a 377 was Nation Ford in sixth. Leading the Lady Falcons was Piper Sabino with an 84. Both Mary Kate Quinlan and Layla Wilson shot rounds of 97 and Brooke Parker shot a round of 99.

Fort Mill finished eighth with a 389 and was led by an 87 from Claire Collins. Skylar Sartwell shot a 95 and Lauren Venino finished with a 100. Lily Rose Sanowski finished the scoring for the Jackets with a 107.

Sept. 11 Roundup

The Catawba Ridge boys’ volleyball team swept Indian Land 3-0 on the road. Catawba Ridge is now 12-3 overall and 3-0 in Region 3-5A. The Catawba Ridge girls’ volleyball team swept Indian Land as well 3-0 and are now 10-5 overall and 3-0 in the region also.

The Fort Mill girls’ volleyball team dropped to 2-4 on the season and 1-3 in Region 3-5A with a 3-1 loss to Northwestern. The Fort Mill boys’ volleyball team beat Northwestern 3-0 and are now 3-6 on the season and 1-3 in the region.

The Nation Ford girls’ volleyball team beat Rock Hill 3-0 and are now 3-0 in Region 3-5A and 8-4 on the season. The Nation Ford boys’ volleyball team improved to 7-4 on the season and 2-1 in region play with a 3-1 win over Rock Hill.

The Fort Mill swim team swept a five-way meet beating four other teams including Catawba Ridge. Individuals winning for Fort Mill were – Bella Corbi (200-yard individual medley), Dominic Impens (200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke), Turner Wiand (50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly), Haruka Ono (100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke), Lila Hadley (100-yard freestyle), Wyatt Matz (500-yard freestyle), and Jack Blackwell (100-yard backstroke). Winning for Catawba Ridge was Amelia Meehan in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
