The S.C. High School League has released a calendar full of dates to go along with their proposal to move forward with fall sports.

The first date on the calendar would be Aug. 17, which would be the first day of practice for fall sports. Start dates would be reviewable within a week prior to the date to determine if it is possible to start on that date. If it isn’t possible, the start date would be moved to no less than one week from the original start date.

Every time the start date is moved, the length of the sport season will have to be determined the best option for the sport, according to the SCHSL. It is not certain how many games other sports besides football would play in the regular season.

In football, tennis and volleyball, region play would determine playoff seedings like normal. Teams not making the playoffs in football would be given one additional game to play.

In swim, golf, cross country and cheer, qualifying events would determine who advances to the state finals. Like most things regarding scheduling, things can change and dates are not set in stone.

There has been no discussion regarding winter or spring sports.

The calendar is as follows:

Football

-First contest: September 11 starting with region play

-Seven regular season games

-Playoffs start: October 30

-State finals: November 20

Girls tennis and volleyball

-First contest: August 31 starting with region play

-Playoffs: October 19

-State finals: October 31

Girls golf and swim

-First contest: August 31

-Swimming state finals: October 10 and 12

-Golf qualifiers: October 19

-Golf state finals: October 26 and 27

Cross country

-First contest: August 31

-Cross country qualifier: Week of November 2-7

-State finals: Week of November 9-14

Cheer

-First contest: September 12

-State qualifiers: Week of November 2-7

-State finals: Week of November 9-14
