All three local boys’ golf teams finished in the top 20 at the Bengal Invitational in Blythewood earlier this week with the Nation Ford Falcons leading the way.

The Nation Ford golf team finished 10th out of 29 teams in the tournament that was won by AC Flora. The Falcons shot a two-day total of 629 (316-313) as AC Flora shot a tournament winning total of 575 (287-288).

The tournament consisted of 18-holes each day at the Columbia Country Club. Nation Ford was led by Ben Mills who shot a 152 (77-75) over the two days. He was followed by Colby McCaskill with a 154 (75-79) and Ben Wakefield with a 160 (78-82). Justin Wosje finished with a 163 (86-77) for the Falcons.

Fort Mill was right behind Nation Ford finishing 11th overall with a 640 (316-324) in the tournament. The Jackets were led by Alex Martin with a 154 (79-75) and Cam Baker with a 156 (77-79). Austin Anderson shot a 164 (82-82) for the Jackets and was followed by Ryan Patterson with a 166 (78-88).

Catawba Ridge finished tied for 17th overall with a 660 (335-325). OT Mitchell led the Copperheads with a 153 (76-77) and Hunter Warren was right behind him with a 157 (80-77). Parrish Fox shot a 167 (83-84) for Catawba Ridge and Emerson Hill rounded out things with a 183 (96-87).

In other sports… Late Tuesday

The Nation Ford Falcons softball team beat Boiling Springs 11-5 to open Region 3-5A play. The Falcons scattered 14 hits and Emma Skovran went 3-4 with a two RBI and a triple, while Olivia Southerly also went 3-4. Nation Ford is now 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in region play.

The Catawba Ridge softball team beat York 6-4 to open their Region 3-4A schedule and improved to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in region play.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ soccer team beat York 8-0 to improve to 2-0 in Region 3-4A and 9-2 overall, while the girls’ soccer team beat York 4-0 to improve to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the region. Scoring goals for Catawba Ridge was Alexa Dubrow, Kayla Fonseca, Adrienne Cooper and Keelyn Feneis.

The Fort Mill baseball team beat Lewisville in Chester County with a 12-1 win. Garett Robb got the win on the mound as Nick Krise had two hits and Zach Jennings had two RBIs. The win puts the Jackets at 6-0 on the season.
