The boys varsity race was led by all three local schools with Catawba Ridge Sam Rich, far left winning, Nation Ford’s Connor O’Flynn, far right coming in second and Fort Mill’s Devon Sibley, center coming in fourth.

If there is one thing that comes out of Fort Mill, it is runners.

Fort Mill swept the York County Championship cross-country meet Saturday morning at Northwestern High School in both the varsity and JV races, as both Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge each flip-flopped in second and third places behind the Yellow Jackets in all four races.

The Fort Mill varsity girls won with a score of 34, followed by a 54 from Nation Ford and a 100 from Catawba Ridge. The Falcons’ Katie Pou won the girls race coming in at 19:17.

Fort Mill was led by Alivia Cleveland, who finished third in 19:58, followed by Angel Kravitz at 20:01 in fourth, Avery Moriarty at 20:04 in fifth and Elise Barradale at 20:41 in ninth.  Brinley Ellis rounded out the scoring for the Jackets in 13th at 21:30.

For Nation Ford, following Pou was Ansley Archuleta in sixth at 20:09, Mia Royall in 10th at 20:44 and Marysa Brenner in 18th at 21:43. Jordyn Battle finished the scoring for the Falcons coming in 19th at 21:58.

Catawba Ridge girls were led by Maddy Mack, who finished seventh in 20:32. Sophia Commerford finished in 21st at 22:06, followed by Hunter Mattes in 23rd at 22:18, Talia Gluff in 24th at 22:19 and Hayla Banish in 25th at 22:27.

For the boys’ varsity race, Fort Mill had a 36 with Catawba Ridge coming in second with a 58 and Nation Ford was third with a 67. The Copperheads’ Sam Rich won the race in 15:32 and was followed by Nation Ford’s Connor O’Flynn in 16:05.

Fort Mill was led by Devon Sibley in fourth in 16:18 with Alec Lootens coming in sixth in 16:31. Evan Wey was seventh in 16:39 and Jackson Dawson was eighth in 16:46. Evan Ickert was 11th overall in 16:54 to end the Jackets scoring.

Following Rich’s winning time for Catawba Ridge was Caden Westover in fifth at 16:26 and Joshua Silverman in 14th at 17:10. Spencer Predmore was 18th in 17:36 and Ty Massey finished 20th in 17:50.

Nation Ford’s Alan Dayrit was 10th in 16:53 behind O’Flynn. He was followed by Justin Storms in 15th at 17:14 and Chase Johnson in 19th at 17:43. Jonathan Pool finished the scoring for the Falcons in 21st at 17:52.

Fort Mill and Nation Ford will have their Region 3-5A championship meet Oct. 20 at the Anne Springs Close Greenway. Catawba Ridge will have their Region 3-4A championship meet Oct. 21 also at the greenway.
