Fort Mill’s Connor Demmerle crosses the finish line in winning the Trojan Invitational.

ROCK HILL – Another year at the Trojan Invitational and another Fort Mill Yellow Jacket sweep.

Not only did Fort Mill win both varsity races, but also won both JV races as well at the event held Saturday, Sept. 6 at Northwestern High School.

The three local varsity boys’ teams finished in the top five with Fort Mill leading the way with 42 points as Connor Demmerle won the boy’s race in 16:04.

Demmerle was followed by Finn Leckrone in fifth in 16:15 and Owen Ware in sixth in 16:22. Hudson Haley was 13th for Fort Mill in 16:51 and Ben Madej was 18th in 17:05 for the Jackets.

Catawba Ridge boys were third overall with 85 points. They were led by Lincoln Smith, who finished fourth in 16:14, and Ryan Pierson with a seventh-place finish in 16:30. Aiden Rogers was 14th in 16:58 for the Copperheads and William Kowalski finished 23rd in 17:12. Landry MacDonald rounded out the scoring for Catawba Ridge with a 41st place finish in 17:58.

Nation Ford boys were fifth overall with 131 points. Robert Saddler led the Falcons with a ninth-place finish in 16:38. He was followed by Aiden Moysaenko in 19th in 17:06 and then Alex Royall in 25th in 17:16. Nick LaSala was 34th in 17:46 and Alejandro Luna was 50th in 18:12 for the Falcons.

The Fort Mill girls led the races off scoring 34 points besting 15 other teams and was led by Kaylee Rovenstine, who finished second in 18:20, to Clover’s Ella Nighbor, who set a new course record in 18:03.

Following Rovenstine was Alivia Cleveland in fourth for Fort Mill in 18:46 and Marlee Cook in 19:04 for the Jackets. Lauren Allen was 11th for Fort Mill in 19:28 and Mia Zook was 12th for the Jackets in 19:29 to round out the scoring for the Lady Jackets.

Nation Ford girls finished sixth overall with 152 points. They were led by Addison Eastley with a 15th place finish in 19:43. Haley Garcia was 21st in 19:56 and Elise Posko was 25th in 20:30. Sofia Gibbs was 47th in 21:54 and Annabelle Clemente was 48th in 21:55 for the Falcons.

The Catawba Ridge girls finished eighth overall with 231 points. They were led by Isabella Cardozo with a ninth-place finish in 19:18. She was followed in 37th place by Alaina Kilpatrick in 21:12 and Maeve Beard in 63rd in 22:38. Zadie Wilkerson was 64th in 22:44. Olivia Gillespie was 69th in 23:15 for the Copperheads.
