Fort Mill’s Isaac Campbell won the boys Region 3-5A title leading the Jackets.

ROCK HILL – The Fort Mill girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams sprinted their way to Region 3-5A championships at Northwestern High School Wednesday.

The Fort Mill girls won scoring 21 points and was led by Alivia Cleveland, who won the girls race in 18:33. The Fort Mill girls all crossed the finish line within 1:19 seconds of each other and had five top 10 finishers.

Following Cleveland for Fort Mill was Kaylee Rovenstine finishing third in 18:48 and Ella Demmerle in fourth in 19:24. Mia Zook was sixth in 19:50 and Avery Moriarty was seventh in 19:53 to round out the scoring for the Jackets.

Clover finished second with 67 points and Nation Ford was third with 90 points. Catawba Ridge was fourth with 102 points.

Leading Nation Ford was Taylor Battle in 10th in 20:04, followed by Jordyn Battle in 13th in 20:24. Haley Garcia was right behind her in 14th in 20:34 and Maddison Littlehale was 25th in 22:15. Elise Posko was 28th in 22:33 to finish the scoring for the Falcons.

Catawba Ridge girls were led by a fifth-place finish from Isabella Cardozo in 19:43. Zadie Wilkerson was 18th for the Copperheads in 21:30 and Alaina Kilpatrick was 26th in 22:15. Olivia Gillespie and Kaelyn Kellogg was 31st and 32nd respectively in 22:58 and 22:59 for Catawba Ridge.

In the boys’ race, Fort Mill had a little more competition against Catawba Ridge as the two teams grabbed the seven of the top 10 finishes. Fort Mill won with 37 points and had four top 10 finishes, while Catawba Ridge had 55 points and three top 10 finishes.

Fort Mill was led by Isaac Campbell, who won the event in 15:54. Owen Ware was third for the Jackets in 16:16 and Connor Demmerle was seventh in 16:31. Finn Leckrone was eighth in 16:42 and Zack Karner rounded out the scoring in 18th for the Jackets in 17:08.

Catawba Ridge was led by Jordan Kent in fifth in 16:18 and Ryan Pierson in sixth in 16:21. Max Conetta finished ninth in 16:51 and Brady Laurin was 15th in 17 minutes flat.  Aidan Rogers was 20th for Catawba Ridge to finish the scoring in 17:16.

Nation Ford finished third overall with 94 points. They were led by a second-place finish from Mason Haynes in 16:13. Aiden Moysaenko was 14th in 16:59 and Robert Saddler was 22nd in 17:23. Alexander Bentley was 24th in 17:32 for Nation Ford and Alex Royall came in 32nd in 18:01 for the Falcons.

Oct. 23 Roundup

The Region 3-5A cheer competition was held at Fort Mill High School with the Clover Blue Eagles winning scoring 269 points. Catawba Ridge was second with 265 points and Nation Ford was third with 245.5 points. Host Fort Mill finished fourth with 241 points.
