Boys high school wrestling

LEXINGTON – The Fort Mill JV wrestling team won the 2023-24 state championship at the Carolina Invitational over the weekend.

Fort Mill scored 143.5 points as Clover JV finished second with 134.5 points. Catawba Ridge JV wrestling was third with 76 points.

The Jackets had eight of 10 wrestlers place at the event, including two winners in Krystian Villatoro (175) and Lincoln Marks (113).

Fort Mill had three wrestlers take second place in Mason Metcalf (157), Maurice Lawrence (175), and Lloyd Shope (190). They also had three wrestlers take fourth place in Cooper Diehl (132), Jayden Nguyen (138), and Keenan Coston (144).

Catawba Ridge had two winners as well with Ryan Stukitz (144) and Lincoln Wise (157) winning their weight classes. Angel Acosta (113) finished third in his weight class for Catawba Ridge. The Copperheads had eight wrestlers in the event.

In the middle school division, Fort Mill had a second-place finisher in Cole Wartinger at 120-pounds. Nation Ford had fourth place finisher in Eastson Ruth at 96-pounds.
