
ROCK HILL – The Fort Mill swim teams dominated the Region 3-5A meet winning both the boys’ and girls’ meets at the Rock Hill Aquatics Center.
The Fort Mill boys scored 347 points with Nation Ford finishing second with 213.5 points. Catawba Ridge was fourth with 118 points. The Fort Mill girls scored 327 points for the win, with Nation Ford being second with 173 points. Catawba Ridge was third with 167 points.
Catawba Ridge girls won the 200-yard medley relay, with Fort Mill picking up the win in the boys’ race. The Copperhead girls also won the 200-yard free relay, while Fort Mill won the boys’ race. Fort Mill swept the boys’ and girls’ 400-yard free relay events.
Individuals winning for Fort Mill were:
Bella Corbi – girls’ 200-yard individual medley
Haruka Ono – girls’ 100-yard breaststroke
Turner Wiand – boys’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke
Dominic Impens – boys’ 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke
Individuals winning for Nation Ford were:
Gavin Charcalla – boys’ 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle
Gray Reiger – boys’ 100-yard butterfly
Avery Martin – girls’ 500-yard freestyle
Individuals winning for Catawba Ridge were:
Amelia Meehan – girls’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke
Up next for all three schools is the 5A state championship meet. The girls’ meet is Thursday, Oct. 9 and the boys’ meet is Saturday, Oct. 11. Both meets are at the USC Natatorium in Columbia.
