
Another Region championship meet, another Region title sweep for the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets.
Fort Mill boys’ and girls’ swim teams won the Region 2-5A meet on Saturday, Oct. 3 afternoon at the Fort Mill Aquatics Center.
Fort Mill girls scored 449 points with Spartanburg finishing second with 158 points. The Fort Mill boys scored 357 points with Spartanburg scoring 253 points for second place.
The Fort Mil girls won the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay. The Jackets swept the 200-yard freestyle relay winning both the boys’ and girls’ events.
Individual winners for Fort Mill were:
Parker Hightower – boys’ 200-yard individual medley
Shlok Maheshwari – boys’ 50-yard freestyle
Delaney Michael – girls’ 100-yard butterfly
Emma Michael – girls’ 500-yard freestyle
Wyatt Matz – boys’ 500-yard freestyle
Haruka Ono – girls’ 100-yard breaststroke
Fort Mill will now turn its attention to the 5A state championship on Thursday, Oct. 8 and Saturday, Oct. 10 at the USC Natatorium in Columbia.
Copperheads edge Nation Ford
In the Region 3-4A meet held the morning of Oct. 3 at the Fort Mill Aquatics Center, both the Catawba Ridge boys’ and girls’ swim teams edged Nation Ford to win the region titles.
The Catawba Ridge boys scored 266 points with Nation Ford being second with 263 points. The Catawba Ridge girls scored 355 points with Nation Ford taking second again with 303 points.
Nation Ford won both the boys’ and girls’ 200-yard medley relay. Catawba Ridge took the girls 200-yard free relay, with the Falcons winning the boys’ event. Catawba Ridge swept the 400-yard free relay.

Jude Cross – boys’ 200-yard freestyle
Levi Vaden – boys’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle
Gray Reiger – boys’ 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle
Noah Harris – boys’ 100-yard backstroke
Catawba Ridge
Lola McGinnis – girls’ 200-yard individual medley
Belle Gload – girls’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle
Amelia Meehan – girls’ 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke
Both teams will now turn their attention to the 4A state championships on Oct. 8 and Oct. 10 in Columbia.
