Five Nation Ford athletes were part of a signing ceremony Wednesday at the school. They were from left, front row, Mia MacMillan and Likhan Das. Back row, from left, Colby McCaskill, Brooks Johnson and Jerrick Foster.

Five Nation Ford Falcons participated in a signing ceremony Wednesday to leave the nest and fly to a new location next year to continue to play the sport they have excelled in.

Of the five signees, two of them were football with others being golf, lacrosse and a soccer player.

The two football players were receivers Jerrick Foster and Brooks Johnson. Foster will be heading to North Greenville University. This past season he caught 43 passes in nine games for 587 yards and five touchdowns. The past two seasons he has caught a total of 69 passes for 969 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown this past season.

Falcons’ head coach Michael Allen spoke highly of both of his players.

“Jerrick has been here since day one as a kid,” he said. “He stayed true to his character. He left a big footprint. He will always be a Falcon.”

Johnson will be heading to Coastal Carolina University. This past season was his first with Nation Ford, but he made it a memorable one catching 36 passes in 10 games for 485 yards and a touchdown.

“He had to get to know our system quick and was a big part of our success on offense,” Allen said. “He has a huge ceiling.”

Mia MacMillan will be playing lacrosse at Coker University in Hartsville. This past season MacMillan scored 25 goals in 13 games and dished out nine assists as a junior. Her senior season is coming up starting later this month.

Nation Ford head coach Kristine Schmidt has a unique perspective on MacMillan not just on the field but off.

“She has had a hard job of me not just being her coach, but her mom,” Schmidt said. “She is a hard worker. She is one of my main producers.  I am proud of her.”

The soccer player to sign was Likhan Das, who will be attending Trine University in Angola, Ind., about an hour and a half east of South Bend, Ind.

“Likhan has been a part of our program all four years at Nation Ford and has been a great example of how hard work over time pays off,” said Falcons head coach Kenny Halas. “We are very happy for him taking his soccer skills to the next level in the fall of 2022.”

The final athlete to sign was golfer Colby McCaskill, who will be teeing it up at Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C.

“Colby has definitely been a leader on our team,” said Nation Ford golf coach Amelio Rodriguez. “He has a great work ethic and he is really good at working with the younger players on the team. We are expecting big things from him this season.”
