Nation Ford’s Davis Glasco returns a shot during the Falcons third round playoff match on May 5.

The Nation Ford Falcons boys’ tennis team was upset in the third round of the 5A state playoffs.

The Falcons came into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the state and made it to the third round after blanking Gaffney 6-0 last week.

Nation Ford lost 4-2 to Greenville on Monday, May 5 to end their season. Winning for Nation Ford was No. 3 singles Owen McCullough winning 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 and No. 2 doubles Jaideep Tatineni and Shanmith Kamireddy 4-6, 6-4, 11-9.

Nation Ford lost in straight sets at No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles and No. 4 singles. The Falcons took the No. 5 singles to a third set tie breaker but lost giving the match to Greenville.

Nation Ford finished the season at 13-3.

May 5 Roundup

The Fort Mill softball team beat Easley 2-1 on the road in their 5A playoff opener. Fort Mill will now play at Catawba Ridge on May 7. Pitcher Haley Rogers led Fort Mill with 16 strikeouts. Fort Mill improved to 8-10 overall on the season.

The Nation Ford baseball team lost to Easley 7-0 in game one in their best of three series. Game two is at Easley on Tuesday, May 6. Nation Ford dropped to 12-15 overall on the season.
