Brady Ambrose has been named one of the Big 22 and hopes to advance to the next round as it gets narrowed down to five next month.

While former President Donald Trump and Vice-President Kamala Harris are clamoring for votes, there is another person that needs your vote just as much.

Catawba Ridge senior tight end Brady Ambrose is one of the Big 22 players selected by WSOC-TV in Charlotte. Voting started earlier this month, but those 22 players will be narrowed down to five finalists on Oct. 3 based on the top vote getters.

If Ambrose advances to the top five, the Catawba Ridge Copperheads has a chance to win $10,000 for the football team. Voting for the Big 22 Player of the Year will begin Oct. 3 and run through Oct. 28.

Catawba Ridge is 4-2 on the season and Ambrose said he is excited about the second half of this senior season.

“The back half of the season is definitely harder,” he said. “There are some good teams coming up. If you look at our team this year, we have ball players all around. We have a lot of potential.”

Ambrose said he would like to be able to make it far in the playoffs this season as a team. But also has personal goals of getting All-Region for the third year in a row and make the All-State team.

Ambrose has 14 offers from colleges and has a goal of committing by the end of the season.

“I am blessed I have those,” he said. “I haven’t narrowed it down.”

Ambrose said he plans on going early to college in January after graduating in December. He has a school in mind he wants to commit to out of the 14 offers, but is still waiting to see if any more offers roll in.

“I have a school in mind that wouldn’t change right now,” he said. “The coaches love me. They want me and I like them a lot. My parents have taught me to go to a place that wants me. Go somewhere that really values me not just on the field, but off the field.”
