The Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis team got a shutout win beating Lancaster 6-0 to stay undefeated in Region 3-4A play Thursday.

Catawba Ridge won each match in straight sets and lost just seven games in the match with the closest match being No. 1 singles that went to a second set tiebreaker.

Nala Uter won at No. 1 singles for Catawba Ridge winning 6-0, 7-6 (7-2) to get things rolling for the Copperheads.

Gracyn Root won at No. 2 singles and Emerson Brooks won at No. 3 singles for the Copperheads, both by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Sydney Biggers and Katelyn Evans won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and No. 5 singles respectively as well for Catawba Ridge.

In the only doubles match, Skylar White and Abby Russell team up for Catawba Ridge to win 6-1, 6-0.

Because of so many weather related issues for the Copperheads this season, they are playing roughly three matches a week to try and get back on schedule.

Catawba Ridge still needs to play Indian Land twice, along with Northwestern twice and South Pointe one more time. The Copperheads are now 6-1 on the season and 5-0 in region play.

The Nation Ford girls’ volleyball team swept Spring Valley to improve to 11-4 overall on the season and 3-1 in Region 3-5A. Nation Ford won 25-12, 25-16, 25-16 to get the sweep.

The Fort Mill girls’ volleyball team fell on the road to Clover 3-2 dropping their record to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in Region 3-5A play.

The Nation Ford girls’ tennis team fell 4-3 to Clover on the road. Winning for the Falcons was Eva Arnautovic at No. 3 singles 7-5, 6-4 and No. 4 singles Lauren Padgett 6-0, 6-1. Ansley McDonald and Piper Land won in No. 2 doubles for the Falcons 6-3, 7-6. Nation Ford falls to 4-1 in Region 3-5A and 4-2 overall on the season.

The Fort Mill girls’ tennis team fell to Blythewood on the road 4-2 to drop to 4-5 on the season and 2-4 in Region 3-5A play.

Late Wednesday, the Fort Mill girls’ golf team beat Clover at River Hill Golf Club. The Jackets won 180-226 and were led by a 40 from Mackenzie Finn. She was followed by a 45 from Sam Benton, a 47 from Cayla Cappuzzo and a 48 from Ava Starosky. Fort Mill is now 5-1 on the season.
