Nation Ford’s Vivian Harris chips on the the green from the ninth fairway at Fort Mill Golf Club Wednesday.

Both the Catawba Ridge and Nation Ford girls’ golf teams opened the 2021 season in a three-way match at Fort Mill Golf Club Wednesday.

Catawba Ridge got the best of both the Falcons and Clover High School on their home course, but it was Nation Ford’s Vivian Harris who was the medalist for the round with a three over 39.

The Copperheads shot a 183 as a team, with Nation Ford coming in six strokes behind with a 189. Clover finished its round as a team with a 212.

Leading Catawba Ridge was Eileen Zeoli, who shot a 41; followed by a round of 43 from Katherine Mann. Kate Gilmer shot a 45 and Reagan Lynch finished the scoring for the Copperheads with a 54. Catawba Ridge is next scheduled to play Aug. 23 at the Lady Bengal Invitational at the Columbia Country Club. Catawba Ridge is 2-0 on the season.

For Nation Ford, following Harris’ round, Sara McCaskill came in with a 44, followed by a 52 from Fharren Coleman and a 54 from Sarah Tran. The Falcons are next scheduled to play Aug. 23, also in the Lady Bengal Invitational. Nation Ford is 1-1 on the season.

Clover was led by Mallory Dover with a 45, followed by a 52 from Madison Hawley and a 56 from Alex Violante. Clara Dover rounded out the scoring for the Blue Eagles with a 59.
