Catawba Ridge’s Max Conetta nears the finish line during the Region 3-4A meet Saturday in Lancaster.

LANCASTER – The Catawba Ridge boys cross country team won the Region 3-4A championship meet Saturday at Memorial Stadium in the Red Rose City.

Led by Max Conetta who won the boys’ varsity race in 17:52, Catawba Ridge scored 21 points with all five scoring finishers coming in the top 10.

Northwestern was second with 47 points, Indian Land was third with 74 points and York was fourth with 110 points.

Following Conetta for the Copperheads was Ryan Pierson in third in 18:10, Jordan Kent in fourth in 18:20 and Aiden Rogers in fifth in 18:40. Jack Myatt rounded out the scoring for Catawba Ridge coming in ninth in 19:12.

In the girls’ varsity race, Northwestern won with 24 points and Catawba Ridge came in second with 46 points. York was third with 83 points and Indian Land was fourth with 91 points.

Isabella Cardozo led Catawba Ridge with a fourth-place finish in 22:26, followed by Madelyn Hymas in eighth in 23:16 and Hailey Johnson in 11th in 23:50. Alexandra Cardozo was 14th in 24:16 and Kaelyn Kellogg was 15th in 24:24 to finish the scoring for Catawba Ridge.

Up next for Catawba Ridge is the 4A state qualifier at Newberry College on Friday, Nov. 3.
