INDIAN LAND – The Catawba Ridge boys volleyball team picked up its 15th win of the season with a sweep of the Indian Land Warriors Monday.

The Copperheads improved to 15-7-1 with a 3-0 sweep of Indian Land winning 25-21, 25-23, 25-20 on the road.

Catawba Ridge head coach Ross Lisee said getting swept by Clover last week was “humbling” to the Copperheads.

“They have come in and have worked hard,” he said. “Indian Land is a good team. We had to come in and play well. We can be good when we show up.”

Catawba Ridge jumped out to a lead in all three sets and controlled things the first set easily. The Copperheads opened the first set going up 6-4 and then pushed the score to 12-8 before Indian Land took a time out.

Coming out of the time out, Catawba Ridge continued to push the pace and went up 16-12. The Copperheads kept the pressure on Indian Land and despite the Warriors staying within striking distance, they were never able to fully rally as Catawba Ridge finished off the first set with a four-point win.

The second set was a lot closer between the two teams despite Catawba Ridge jumping out to a 7-4 start.

Indian Land tied the set at 9-9 and the two teams continued to trade points with neither team really getting a big advantage. The Warriors went up 17-15 and then 21-19, but Catawba Ridge was able to tie the set at 23 and scored the final two points to go up 2-0 over the Warriors.

Catawba Ridge came out of the third set strong and went up 9-3 to start. Indian Land was never able to keep pace and despite pulling within three points a couple of times, the Copperheads kept the lead.

Up next on the schedule for Catawba Ridge is a rematch against Clover, but this time it will be in The Arena, where the Copperheads hope to get some revenge.
