High School Baseball in Fort Mill

ANDERSON – The Fort Mill Post 43 Senior team picked up their first win of the 2026 season on the road.

Post 43 beat Anderson Post 14 by a score of 6-3 at Westside High School on Friday, June 12.

Fort Mill struck first scoring a run in the top of the first. Cooper Armstrong walked and scored on an error later in the inning.

Post 43 added two more runs as James Knoll singled and James Carlin walked. Lawson Smith drove in Knoll on a sacrifice fly and Jackson Bendis drove in courtesy runner Michael Caropreso.

Anderson would score in the bottom of the second inning off a home run to get on the board.

Both teams went scoreless in the third and fourth innings. Fort Mill starter Caden Stevens continued to have a good outing.

Stevens would go four innings and allow one run on one hit, while striking out four and walking four.

In the fifth inning. Post 43 added three more runs. TJ McCluney hit a one out double, followed by a single from Armstrong to score him. Alex Blanchette then doubled to score Armstrong. Consecutive walks to JT Leonhardt and Cooper Diehl, before Knoll drove in Blanchette on a sacrifice fly.

Anderson scored a run each in consecutive innings, but didn’t get close.

Fort Mill was led by eight different batters with one hit each. Armstrong, Blanchette, Bendis, Knoll and Smith each had an RBI.

On the mound, Daniel McCloskey, Zac Young, and Carter Powell each pitched an inning. Young and McCloskey each gave up a run, a hit and a walk. Powell pitched a scoreless inning and struck out two.

Post 43 improved to 1-3 overall and will begin a three-game series Monday, June 15 against Lancaster.
