
PAWLEYS ISLAND – Both the Nation Ford and Fort Mill boys’ golf teams finished in the top 25 at the Palmetto Championship on Pawleys Island.
Nation Ford finished 14th out of 48 teams and Fort Mill was 22nd. Charlotte Latin won the event with a three-day total 850. Nation Ford finished with an 894 and Fort Mill finished with a 911. The tournament was held over three-days at three different courses – Caledonia, True Blue, and Tradition.
The Falcons shot a team total 287 on day three of the tournament at the True Blue course setting a new school record for an 18-hole tournament. Carter Smith tied the school record, set just last month by Aiden Miller for Nation Ford, with a five under 67 on day three of the tournament. Smith’s 67 (35-32) resulted in seven birdies and two bogeys. He shot a three-day total of 211 shooting 72 in both round one and round two of the tournament.
Also on day three, Oliver LaPointe finished with an even par 72. He shot a 76 on day two and a 73 on day one. Connor Mills shot a one over 73 on day three of the tournament and opened the tournament with a 74. On day two, Mills shot a 78. Alex Bodel shot a 75 on day three of the tournament and a 78 on day one. He shot an 84 on day two of the tournament.
Fort Mill shot a 304 on day three of their tournament and had a unique feature to their final round with all four of their scoring players, Morgan Bayko, Baker Tolentino, Noah Jones, and Nick Harper, each shooting a round of 76 for their third-round score.
The Jackets shot a 297 for round two. Tolentino led with a 72 on day two. Bayko finished with a 74 and Harper finished with a 75. Jones finished with a 76 in his second round.
Fort Mill opened the tournament with a 310 led by 74 from Harper. Jones shot a 76 and Tolentino finished with a 78. Bayko rounded out the scoring with an 82.
