Catawba Ridge’s Abby Russell returns a serve during her match against Indian Land.

INDIAN LAND – The Catawba Ridge Copperheads girls’ tennis team got back to .500 with a win over Indian Land.

The Lady Copperheads won 5-1 and are now 5-5 on the season with two more matches left in the regular season.

All five of Catawba Ridge wins were in straight sets. The No. 2 singles player Gracyn Root won 6-0, 6-4 and the No. 3 singles Abby Russell won 7-6, 6-2.

The Lady Copperheads’ Katelyn Evans won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Kaitlyn Wood won 6-4,6-0 at No. 5 singles for Catawba Ridge.

In the only doubles match, Brooklyn Schuyler and Elaina Beilstein won 6-4, 6-2 for Catawba Ridge.

Catawba Ridge still has a match against Clover at home on Thursday, Oct. 16 and then will face Nation Ford on Monday, Oct. 20.
