
CHESTER – The Catawba Ridge girls’ golf team cruised to a 32-stroke win in the Region 3-5A Championship.
The 18-hole event was held on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Chester Golf Club.
Catawba Ridge shot a 324 and was led by Anjali Peddisetty, who was the medalist with a 76. She was followed by a 78 from Brooke Mehlhouse and a pair of 85s from EllaRose Hill and Jordan Lyons. Peddisetty, Mehlhouse, Hill and Lyons all made All-Region team.
Northwestern was second with a 356 and Fort Mill was third with a 365.
The Jackets were led by an 83 from Claire Collins. She was followed by a 92 from Skylar Sartwell and a 94 from Ella Presley. Campbell Grant finished the scoring with a 96 for Fort Mill. Collins made the All-Region team.
Nation Ford was fourth just three shots back at 368. They were led by an 82 from Piper Sabino. Mary Kate Quinlan followed with an 88 for the Falcons and Campbell Reiking shot a 98. Layla Wilson finished the scoring for Nation Ford with a 100. Sabino and Quinlan made the All-Region team.
Indian Land was fifth with a 372 and Clover was sixth with a 391. Rock Hill rounded things an out with a 499.
All three local teams qualified for the Upper State Championship held back at Chester on Monday, Oct. 20.

The Fort Mill girls’ tennis team beat Indian Land 4-2 to improve to 11-1 overall on the season and 11-0 in Region 3-5A. Winning for Fort Mill was Molly Goodson 6-4, 6-3; Avalon Stevens 6-1, 6-1; Siona Soman 6-3, 6-1; and Ellie Corbett and Macey Simpson in doubles 6-2, 6-0.
The Nation Ford girls’ tennis team blanked Clover 6-0 to improve to 9-1 on the season.
The Nation Ford boys’ volleyball team lost to Clover 3-0 to fall to 12-13 overall and 4-7 in Region 3-5A.
The Nation Ford girls’ volleyball team clinched the Region 3-5A championship beating Clover 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-15) to improve to 11-0 in region play and 33-7 overall.
The Fort Mill girls’ volleyball team beat Indian Land 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-11) to improve to 8-6 overall and 6-5 in Region 3-5A.
