With one final signing ceremony, the Nation Ford Falcons athletic department had eight athletes sign last week for college.

A ceremony held Wednesday, May 14 at the school saw four baseball players, a lacrosse player, a state track champion, a football player, and a soccer player all committed to different colleges.

The four baseball players were Kaden Barnett, Ben Chuttey, Ryan Dyer, and Cooper Mitchell. Barnett will be going to Florence Darlington Tech and Mitchell will be going to Coker University; while Chuttey and Dyer will be in the University of South Carolina system as Chuttey is going to USC Upstate and Dyer is going to USC Lancaster.

“We are extremely proud of the high school baseball career these young men had,” said Nation Ford head coach Jeff Stack. “They set the standard for how all student-athletes should carry themselves in the classroom and on the diamond.”

Neale Johnson will be participating in the track program at Converse University in Spartanburg. Johnson is a five-time state track champion, including four-time individual state champion winning state titles in both the high jump and 400-meter hurdles in both 2024 and 2025.

Lucas Barz will continue his game on the gridiron by heading to Presbyterian College. Barz had 66 receptions in two years for 925 yards and caught nine touchdowns while on varsity.

Grace Dunnery will be playing soccer at Lees McRae. In her four years on varsity, she scored 25 goals and had 17 assists. She was key in the Lady Falcons going undefeated in Region 3-5A play this past season.

Jacob Sanford will be joining his brother, Carson, to play lacrosse at Columbia College together.
