ROEBUCK – The Nation Ford girls’ volleyball team was perfect this weekend winning the Tournament of Champions at Dorman High School.
Nation Ford went 8-0 in the tournament over Friday and Saturday to improve to 22-2 overall on the season. The tournament consisted of a 16-team field.
The Falcons went 2-0 on Friday beating St. Joseph’s and Lexington by 2-0 scores. Nation Ford beat St. Joseph 25-18 in both sets. Against Lexington, Nation Ford won 28-26 and 25-21 also on Friday.
On Saturday, Nation Ford went 6-0 to take the tournament championship. They finished off pool play by beating Bishop England winning 25-21 and 25-16.
Nation Ford then beat River Bluff 2-1 by scores of 25-18, 26-28, 15-12 in a three-set match of the tournament. The Falcons beat Birmingham, Ala. based Mountain Brook 2-0 by scores of 25-23 and 25-13. Nation Ford also beat North Myrtle Beach 2-0 by scores of 25-12 and 25-17 pushing them to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, Nation Ford saw Lexington again this time beating them in three sets 2-1 to get to the finals, where they again saw River Bluff. In the finals, they beat River Bluff in three sets as well 2-1.
Nation Ford returns to Region 3-5A play, where they are 3-0, with a match at Catawba Ridge on Sept. 17 and then travels to Clover on Sept. 19.
