Nation Ford’s Ian Drane helped to guide the Falcons to a 6-0 win over Catawba Ridge Monday afternoon.

The Nation Ford boys’ tennis team shutout Catawba Ridge in their second match-up of the season.

Nation Ford won 6-0 winning every match in straight sets. The Falcons dropped just seven games in singles play and six in doubles play.

Winning for Nation Ford at No. 1 singles was Ian Drane 6-0, 6-0 over Bryce Greeley and at No. 2 singles Akhil Kanthamneni 6-0, 6-0 over Wayden Uter.

At No. 3 singles George Lynch won 6-0, 6-2 over Abhinav Pattipaka for the Falcons and Ziad Baki won for Nation Ford at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0 over Spencer Boyer. Deep Patel beat Spencer Epting 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles for the Falcons.

In No. 2 doubles, Addison English and Aryan Goel won for Nation Ford 6-4, 6-2 over Koen Tesimale and Jacob Thompson. 

Nation Ford next plays at Rock Hill Tuesday, March 28, while the Copperheads play at York Thursday, March 30.

Nation Ford

The Nation Ford lacrosse teams won at home and on the road. At home, the boys’ lacrosse team beat Spring Valley 23-0 to improve to 7-0 in Region 3-5A and 9-1 overall. The girls team won at Spring Valley by a score of 19-6 to improve to 4-4 in region and 6-6 overall.

The Falcons baseball team won 7-6 in game one over Rock Hill in their series to improve to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in region. Gabe Simmons and Braydn Deaton each went 2-3 in the game. Deaton and Miles Baker each had two RBIs in the win.

The Nation Ford softball team fell 1-0 to Indian Land as the Falcons managed just two hits in the game and are now 3-4 overall on the season. Alaina Holyfield and Rachel Studer each got hits for the Falcons.

Fort Mill

The Fort Mill girls’ lacrosse team beat Clover 16-8 to finish Region 3-5A with a perfect 8-0 record and improved to 9-4 overall. Grace Sandler scored seven goals and Lydia Laney scored six goals to lead the Jackets.

The Fort Mill baseball team beat Spring Valley 9-1 in game one of their three game series to improve to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in Region 3-5A. Andrew Craddock went 2-4 with three RBIs and Carter Blankinship went 2-4 with two RBIs. Jaeger Pankowski pitched six and two-thirds for the win allowing one run on seven hits and striking out three.

The Fort Mill girls’ soccer team lost 3-0 to Providence Day to drop to 6-5-1 overall on the season.

Catawba Ridge

The Catawba Ridge baseball team continues its hot streak and improves to 7-0 in Region 3-4A play and 10-3 overall with a 9-1 win over Lancaster in game one of their three game series. The Copperheads scored seven runs in the fifth inning to blow the game open as Owen Noonan went 2-3 with two RBIs and Britton Nash went 1-3 with two RBIs as well. Jackson Mullen allowed one run on two hits while striking out eight.

The Catawba Ridge golf team beat Northwestern in a dual match at Fort Mill Golf Club winning 172-202. OT Mitchell led with a 37, followed by Hunter Warren with a 38 and Killian Kirby with a 46. Muller Otto finished with a 51 for the Copperheads.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ lacrosse team beat Parkwood 16-6 and are now 4-7 overall on the season.
