The Nation Ford golf team finished fifth in their flight of 15 teams at the Palmetto Golf Championship in Pawleys Island Saturday.

The tournament was played at The Palmetto, which is made up of three different courses. The Palmetto is made up of the True Blue Golf Club, Caledonia Golf Club and the Traditional Club. The tournament was played over three-days April 6-8 and Nation Ford shot a 931 as a total during the tournament and finished 21st out of 48 teams in the tournament.

Nation Ford shot a 313 as a team and were seventh in their flight after day one. The first round was played at the True Blue Golf Club.

The Falcons were led by Ben Mills with an even par 72 (37-35). He was followed with a six over 78 (38-40) from Justin Wosje and then a 79 (40-39) from Ben Wakefield. Tyler Kemmerlin finished the scoring for Nation Ford with an 84 (42-42).

On day two, the second round was played at the par 70 Caledonia Golf Club as the Falcons shot 301 as a team.

Mills again led Nation Ford with a two over 72 (36-36), followed by a 75 (34-41) from Wakefield. Wosje was right behind Wakefield with a 76 (39-37) and then Kemmerlin finished the scoring for Nation Ford with a 78 (38-40).

On day three, the team played at the Traditional Club and shot 317. The course produced the highest scores of the three with Mills, Wakefield and Harrison LaPointe all shooting a 79 on the par 72 course. Mills shot a 35-44 on the front and back nine. Wakefield posted a 39-40 and LaPointe finished with a 41-38 on the course. Wosje was the other low score for Nation Ford coming in with an 80 (42-38).

Nation Ford gets back into action locally Monday, April 10 at Tega Cay Golf Course against Fort Mill.

The Nation Ford boys’ lacrosse team fell to Lucy Beckham 10-6 on the road on Thursday, April 6. The loss dropped them to 11-3 overall on the season. The Falcons have two more regular season games scheduled for Monday, April 10 at Riverside and then hosting Dutch Fork Thursday, April 13. Playoffs start for Nation Ford on Wednesday, April 19.
