Softball in a glove at home plate

It was a busy weekend for local high schools as Fort Mill, Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge all got wins.

Catawba Ridge

On Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18, the Catawba Ridge softball team went 3-1 in the Byrnes Invitational beating Wando 10-0, Laurens 9-6 and Seneca 6-3, before falling to Summerville 1-0.

Kendra Murray hit two home runs and Audrey Wilson also cleared the fence during the tournament for Catawba Ridge. The wins push the Copperheads’ overall record to 10-2 on the season.

Fort Mill

On Saturday, March 18, the Fort Mill girls’ lacrosse team won 12-11 over a visiting Lucy Beckham team. Lydia Laney led the Jackets with 10 goals and collected her 150th career goal in the game. Fort Mill improved to 6-2 on the season with the win.

The boys’ lacrosse team lost 14-8 to the Hammon school on the road and fell to 4-6 overall on the season.

Also on Saturday, the Fort Mill softball team improved to 5-1 overall with a doubleheader sweep at Saluda winning both games 6-5. 

Nation Ford

The Nation Ford boys’ lacrosse team improved to 7-1 overall on the season with a 14-3 win at Spartanburg Saturday, March 18.
