High School Baseball in Fort Mill

The Fort Mill Post 43 Senior American Legion team will get an earlier than normal start to the 2024 season as they open play this week.

Fort Mill Post 43 will open against West Columbia Post 79 at Brookland-Cayce High School on Tuesday, May 28. They will then go to Chesnee High School on Wednesday, May 29 to play Chesnee Post 48.

 Post 43 currently has an 18-game schedule ahead of them this season and will have the home opener at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 at Fort Mill High School against Concord Post 51.

Fort Mill has a good mix of talent coming back from last year’s team, along with new talent this year. Post 43 has returning players like Sam Czyz, Jonathan Barschow, Hunter Busque, River Joye, and Zach Jennings. They are adding players such as Thomas Ealey, Simon Fernandez, Brennan Helms, Jackson Mullen, Owen Noonan, Ben Wilson and Logan Sulli.

This year’s team is made up of players from Fort Mill, Clover, Nation Ford, Indian Land and Catawba Ridge High schools.

This year’s league adds Camden Post 17, who is one of the better teams in the state, and has made it to the Southeast Regional in recent years. Another strong team and Post 43’s closest rival will be Rock Hill Post 34. Also in the league is Winnsboro Post 16 and Lancaster Post 31.

Fort Mill’s league games start June 10 and they will have three games a week before ending the regular season July 11 hosting Rock Hill. Playoffs start July 15 with the state tournament starting July 25 with the games being held at Francis Marion University in Florence.
