Fort Mill’s Aidan Eubanks and Nation Ford’s Mitchell Ladamus squared off at 138-pounds during their team’s match Wednesday night.

The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets won the Region 3-5A title finishing their region schedule a perfect 5-0.

Fort Mill beat Nation Ford 72-2 Wednesday night to finish out that schedule and improve to 20-2 overall.

“It is awesome to win the region,” said Fort Mill head coach Adam Marullo, who is in his first season in that position. “It is a tough region. The guys are wrestling well.”

The match started in Fort Mill’s favor already as Nation Ford had forfeits in four weight classes – 106, 120, 150, and heavyweight – essentially giving the Jackets 24 points right from the start.

“We are also down two starters out with injury,” said Nation Ford head coach Bret Peltier. “Kids are hurt, kids are sick. It is what it is.”

The match started at 106 with the Jackets’ Luke Van Beynum getting a forfeit win.

Fort Mill’s Jacob Nally (113) picked up a first period pin over Jacob Moore before another forfeit win by Lincoln Greene at 120-pounds.

Tucker Gibson (126) had a 16-1 tech fall over Will Clark and Logan Shope (132) picked up a first period pin for Fort Mill over Danny Gilstorf.

The match of the dual on paper came at 138-pounds between the Jackets’ Aidan Eubanks and Nation Ford’s Mitchell Ladamus. The match was close and very technical as Eubanks got the 10-2 major decision.

Fort Mill’s Gavin Mitcheson (144) picked up a first period pin over Austin Gebhardt, before another forfeit win by the Jackets at 150-pounds for Cade Simpson.

Nation Ford had a competitive match at 157-pounds as the Jackets’ Broden Mitcheson edged Todd Lindquist 7-4 for the decision.

Jack Kadish (165) and Theodore Ernst (175) both picked up first period pins for Fort Mill before another competitive match at 190-pounds.

Nation Ford picked up the win at 190 as Derek van Sandwyk got a 5-3 overtime win over the Jackets’ Sebastian Villatoro.

Fort Mill finishes off the dual with Joseph Richardson (215) getting a second period pin and Grayson Sykes (hwt.) getting a forfeit win.

Both Fort Mill and Nation Ford head to Clover High School for the individual region championship.
