Jordyn and Taylor Battle will both be heading to Wofford to run track and cross-country.

In separate signings this week, the Nation Ford Falcons had three athletes sign to participate in college sports.

Abigail Loser, 18, signed to play softball at Louisburg College, based in Louisburg, N.C., which is north of Raleigh. The school is a two-year college and Loser said she looked forward to playing right away.

“I can play my first year there and then look somewhere else after a couple years,” she said. “I liked the family environment of it. I liked how small it is,”

Loser is entering her fifth year playing softball on the varsity level for Nation Ford. She is a middle infielder for the Falcons and said she is willing to play wherever Louisburg needs her to play.

Loser also looked at USC Aiken and Lander University, before deciding on Louisburg. She plans on majoring in sports science.

Also signing this week for the Falcons was sisters Jordyn and Taylor Battle, both of which will be going to Wofford College in Spartanburg to run track and cross-country.

Both 18, the girls didn’t plan out to go to the same school, it just “ended up that way,” they agreed.

“I loved the campus,” Taylor said. “All of our future teammates are great.”

Jordyn ran a 20:35 this past season in the 5A state cross-country championship race, good enough for 20th and had a personal record earlier in the season of 19:51. Taylor ran a 20:08 in the state finals and finished 14th. She also had a personal record earlier in the season of a 19:41.

Both looked at other schools such as High Point University and Appalachian State, but decided on Wofford.

“It is kind of exciting us making the transition together,” Jordyn said.

Taylor plans on majoring in biology and Jordyn plans on majoring in psychology.
