The Nation Ford athletic department didn’t have to look far for their next head coach, just right down the bench.
Nation Ford has hired three-year assistant coach Craig Brown to take over the program from former head coach Carrie Christian, who stepped down last month after 12-years as head coach.
Brown, who is also the school’s head softball coach, will be doing double-duty and keeping both positions.
“I didn’t want to give it up,” Brown said, regarding volleyball. “I enjoy the game.”
Brown was an assistant volleyball coach at Fort Mill for several years, before coming over to Nation Ford and has been part of two state titles with the Falcons’ program since arriving. Despite the added duties, Brown said things won’t be any different for him.
“Things don’t change much,” he said. “Really I am just doing the scheduling.”
In addition to the schedule, Brown said that he doesn’t see hardly any changes coming to a program, which is one of the best in the state. Brown said it there are any changes, they would be minimal, so much so that it would probably go unnoticed.
“I was a believer in what she (Christian) was doing when I got here,” he said. “There won’t be many changes. She built a great program.”
Brown will also continue in his role at the school in working security.
