
The Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis team got a shutout win over Charlotte Catholic 7-0.
Catawba Ridge won the match in straight sets for their first win of the season. The Copperheads were led by Abby Russell in a straight set win at 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
Elaina Beilstein won for Catawba Ridge by identical scores at No. 2 singles for the Copperheads and at No. 3 singles Brooklynn Schuyler won 6-1, 6-2.
At No. 4 singles, Gracyn Root won for Catawba Ridge with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and Gigi Miller won at No. 5 singles for the Copperheads a 6-0, 6-2 win.
Catawba Ridge played two doubles matches winning both of them. Kaitlyn Wood and Jane Rohrmeier won at No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-3 and then at No. 2 doubles Lucy Baines and Adaline Goddard won 6-0, 6-1 for the Copperheads.
Up next for Catawba Ridge is a Region 3-4A match, their first of the season, at Indian Land on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ golf team improved to 4-0 with wins over Legion Collegiate and York. Catawba Ridge shot a 157 at Fort Mill Golf Club, while Legion finished with a 187 and York shot a 203. The Copperheads were led by a one over par 37 from Brooke Mehlhouse, followed by a 39 from Ella Rose Hill and a 40 from Bella Troxler. Charley Barron-Haggerty finished the scoring for Catawba Ridge with a 41.
