In a rare event, the Fort Mill girls’ tennis team split a playoff doubleheader.

After three consecutive days of rainouts, Fort Mill played Indian Land in the second round of the 5A playoffs, and then played Greenville in the third round of the playoffs right afterward on Thursday, Oct. 30. Fort Mill had a bye from the first round of the playoffs, which started Oct. 23.  

Fort Mill beat Indian Land 4-2 to advance to the third round to play Greenville, as they hosted both schools on Thursday, Oct. 30. The third round didn’t go as well as Fort Mill was shutout against Greenville falling 6-0.

Against Indian Land, Fort Mill was led by three singles players. Molly Goodson won at No. 3 singles against the Warriors 6-2, 6-2 and Avalon Stevens won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Siona Soman won at Nov. 5 singles for Fort Mill 6-2, 6-0.

In the only doubles match, Ellie Corbett and Macey Simpson won 6-2, 6-0 for the Lady Jackets.

In their match against Greenville, Fort Mill dropped five of the six matches in straight sets. The only match going to a third set tie breaker was Stevens at No. 4 singles.

The third-round loss to Greenville ended the Lady Jackets season at 13-2 overall.
