The Nation Ford Falcons are looking for an athletic director again.
Athletic director Bryan Dillon resigned on Tuesday, Aug. 19 after about 10 months on the job. He didn’t give a specific reason for the resignation saying just, “I don’t want to say much, but I did resign.”
Dillon was hired from the Clover School District where he was public information officer for that district since 2015. Before that, he worked at UNC-Asheville in social media marketing for their athletic department and he had also worked in the Winthrop University athletic department.
During his time at Nation Ford, Dillon hired several new and young coaches for the Falcons’ athletic program including football coach Jake Bentley, who comes from a well-known football pedigree within South Carolina.
Dillon was the fourth athletic director in Nation Ford’s brief 18-year history. The Falcons’ initial athletic director Brian Turner retired at the end of the 2018 school year, but since then the school has gone through three athletic directors.
Jaybe Shackleford was the athletic director from 2018 until his resignation in August 2022. Shackleford is now athletic director of Buford High School in Lancaster County.
Dave Johnson followed Shackleford and was athletic director from 2022 until his resignation in August 2024. Dillon was then hired in October 2024 to replace Johnson.
The Fort Mill School District has posted the position and listed as they were looking for an interim athletic director at this time.
“I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Bryan for the dedication and energy he devoted to our program and our student athletes,” said Nation Ford Principal Chris Chandler.
Chandler said the interim athletic director would finish the 2025-2026 school year and the district looks to post the position for a full-time athletic director in February or March for the 2026-2027 school year.
