The Nation Ford Falcons girl’s tennis team improved to 2-0 in Region 3-5A play by beating new region member the Blythewood Bengals.

Nation Ford won 4-2 on Thursday evening as they were able to get three key wins in singles play.

Leading that charge was Lauren Padgett getting a win at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 7-5 score. The other two singles wins came at No. 4 singles with Isabella Neff getting a 7-5, 6-0 win and then No. 5 singles as Eva Arnautovic winning at 6-4, 6-3 for Nation Ford.

In the only doubles match, Nation Ford’s Alexa Brenner and Ansley McDonald won for the Falcons with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Up next for Nation Ford is a match Monday, Sept. 12 against Charlotte Catholic and then against Rock Hill at home on Tuesday, Sept. 13. They are scheduled to travel to Spring Valley on Thursday, Sept. 15 for their next road match.

Golf

The Nation Ford girls golf team got a 194-206 win over the Clover Blue Eagles at River Hills Country Club Thursday.

Vivian Harris shot a 40 to lead the Falcons and both Katie Griggs and Piper Sabino had rounds of 50, while Hadley Mark finished with a 54.

Up next for Nation Ford is the Trojans Invitational Monday, Sept. 12 at the Rock Hill Country Club.
